Selected for Harvard Public Health Program
Big congratulations to Mike Quirk, Medical Director of Redwoods
Rural Health Center for being selected for the Harvard School of
Public Health’s: Managing Ambulatory Health Care Program in
Portland, Oregon by the Community Clinics Initiative (CCI). CCI had
an overwhelming response to the program, but selected applicants who
are physician managers in community clinics and health centers from
across the entire state. The Community Clinics Initiative is
underwriting the cost of the tuition for the this intensive four-day
course, designed specifically for the community health center
physician who has undertaken significant managerial
responsibilities, yet is unable to take time away from the health
center to complete a degree program in public health or health
administration.
Given the current health care environment, physician leaders are in
critical management positions. As Medical Director of Redwoods Rural
Health Center, Mike Quirk makes an ideal candidate for the training
and RRHC and its patients will be rewarded for his dedication to
their community. He will learn about financial management, policy
and community leadership, clinical operations, and the key role as
Medical Director. The training will expand Dr. Quirk’s knowledge of
management concepts and understanding of his leadership role to
effectively work with the management team of the health center, its
Board of Directors and clinical staff to guide the successful
operations of the health center.
